Sentry turrets are the real deal - they're like little soldiers blasting away and melting enemies. But when it comes to mob swarms, they can get overwhelmed. The laser beam pew pews well, but the Sentry rocket collides on terrain, making it less effective. Still, for a low-cost defense, they sure know how to burn bosses! So, cheers to the Sentry turrets - they're a bit sketchy, but they get the job done. 🚀🔥
# DD2 - Sentry VS Chaos 10 - Laza Go Brrrrrrrrrr! 🎮
## Einführung
What's going on everyone here and welcome to some Dungeon Defenders 2! It is Sunday and I was all set up to do a Sunday chill build. I was planning on going with the rail guns and wrecking this map with six rail guns per lane. However, while getting ready to do that, I thought why not try out the Sentry turrets instead? Let's jump in and get some turret action going!
## Sentry Turrets Setup 💥
### Features of Sentry Turrets
The Sentry turret does not require a piercer Servo, as the laser beam pierces through shields. I am going with mass destruction, destruction, Sentry rocket, defense rate anti-melee, and anti-chaos. These turrets provide a bit of AOE damage, making them a single target defense.
```
| Feature | Details |
|-------------------------|----------------------------|
| Laser Beam | Pierces through shields |
| Special Attributes | Mass destruction, Sentry rocket, defense rate anti-melee, anti-chaos |
| AOE Damage | Yes |
```
## Building the Strategy 🏗️
I plan to start with a boosta and Frost strikes for a little pylon, and then build out the Sentry turrets. It's quite realistic to have nine of these guys per lane, thanks to the benefits of a 30d defense. I'll also set up some Last Resort walls for extra protection.
```
| Strategy | Details |
|-------------------------|----------------------------|
| Number of Turrets | Nine per lane |
| Additional Protection | Last Resort walls |
```
## Utility of Buff Beam ⚡
While analyzing the benefits of using a buff beam, I noticed that with some careful placement, it is possible to give each side its own buff beam. This setup would provide eight turrets each way, maximizing the defense potential with only 340 du spent.
### Buff Beam Benefits
```
- Each side has its own buff beam.
- Maximized turret defense with only 340 du spent.
```
## Wall Defense Tactics 🛡️
In this map, the wall is purely used as a Last Resort defense mechanism. I've also added a defense rate Servo to my training dummies for optimal protection.
```
- Walls are used as a Last Resort defense.
- Defense rate Servo has been added to training dummies.
```
## Sentries in Action ⚔️
The Sentry turrets have a short range, but with the use of diffusion and a range pylon, I was able to boost the range up to 4,800. These turrets function as cheap single target defenses with high damage output, making them efficient against tougher mobs.
### Effectiveness of Sentry Turrets
```
- High Damage Output
- Efficient against tougher mobs
- Cheap single target defenses
```
## Performance Evaluation 🔍
This setup demonstrated its strength against fast attacking enemies but struggled with mob density. The Sentry rocket shard provided additional AOE but had limited effectiveness in dealing with large crowds.
```
- Strength against fast attacking enemies
- Limited effectiveness against mob density
```
## Conclusion 🏁
Overall, the Sentry turrets proved to be an efficient defense mechanism, especially against bosses and flyers. Their single target damage output is commendable, but their susceptibility to being overwhelmed by large crowds poses a challenge.
```
- Efficient against bosses and flyers
- Vulnerable to being overwhelmed by large crowds
```
In conclusion, this experiment with the Sentry turrets was both fascinating and challenging, showcasing the strengths and weaknesses of this defense strategy in Dungeon Defenders 2. Thank you for watching, and until next time - take it easy! 🎮
