A Successful Analy Hunt

So, I wanted to talk about this antelope hunt we did in Wyoming in 2022. This was Cam's first-ever trip out west to hunt, making it an exciting experience for both of us. Antelope hunting can be a great way for hunters who want to experience Western hunting, especially those looking to try DIY public land hunting. The fairly easy tag to get, Target Rich hunt, and moderate physical demands make it perfect to hone hunting skills.

Exploring the Hunting Spot

Our first full day included solid half-day scouting and observing great habitat on the public land. Despite challenges in finding public hunting areas, it looks promising thus far. Exploring the land, we found a glassing spot with great public access. This excluded the presence of other hunting groups, offering us a chance to see something remarkable on our first hunting day.

Chasing the Buck

As we progressed, we spotted the target buck, and despite multiple attempts to approach it, we realized that it was not going to leave the private land. We decided to regroup and begin our backup plan instead.

Hunting Stats and Results

Analyzing our hunt, we spotted the group of antelopes around 2.39 miles away, attempted a rifle range approach, and closely observed the public and private land dynamics, ending our adventure with the hope that there's always another day for a hunter.

Conclusion

In conclusion, our Wyoming public land antelope hunt was an eventful escapade into the world of Western hunting. With patience and perseverance, we made valuable observations and learned through each step, proving that hunting is not just a sport but also a lifestyle that teaches the value of adaptability and the thrill of the chase.
