Free-to-play Undecember is the Diablo 4 of the free gaming world, but with a Korean flavor. While it's action-packed and visually stunning, the endless cutscenes and sluggish pacing can leave you frustrated. The combat and loot system are top-notch, but the game's long-winded quests and excessive microtransactions may not be everyone's cup of tea. Overall, it's a solid free game option, but it could use some streamlining. 🎮

Introduction

This is the interesting case, when you can get a really decent isometric action RPG that looks great, plays fine and provides a lot of build variety and loot customization. In other words, it’s something like Diablo 4 but for free – no joke here. The only downsides of this game stem from its Korean nature and its inability to provide effective and balanced pacing to the gameplay from level to level.

Overview

With 23+ hours of playtime, UNDECEMBER, an action RPG developed by the Korean company Needs Games, has unique elements along with downsides.

Experience and Graphics

Pros Cons
Looks great Korean nature
Plays fine Unbalanced pacing
Build variety
Loot customization

"Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Alex B and this is the First Time Playing – a series, where I play online games for the first time."

Gameplay and Customization

We start with watching the cutscene, which we do not understand and then we proceed to the character creation screen. It allows us to create male or female character with quite limited customization.

Little did I know that the game is FULL of cutscenes when your character is being rendered in full armor and is being shown how you’ve created them. So yeah, if you want to not look dumb in numerous cutscenes, please spend a little more time in character customizer than I did.

Combat and Plot

The combat itself is fun at its core, not going to lie. And I’ve liked all of it, from the flashiness of the skills, to the sound design – the whistle and the crackle of sparks was always satisfying to perform even despite the growing damage-sponginess of the enemies.

"The boss battles start as simple challenges and grow to the Elden Ring level of BS – there’s a lot to dodge, a lot to hit and you die immediately even if you missclick just once."

Narrative and Conclusion

As for the whole story and narrative content of Undecember, I really respect their ability to make cutscenes for almost every enemy and boss encounter and for almost every aspect of story events. It’s definitely a better free game than Diablo Immortal and even Lost Ark. It can be enjoyed by people who don’t or cannot buy games online.

Key Takeaways:

  • Looks great, plays fine with unique elements
  • Balanced pacing and less cutscenes can improve the overall experience

FAQ:

  • What are the main downsides of UNDECEMBER?

In conclusion, UNDECEMBER has the potential to be even better with improvements in pacing, narrative, and reduced monetization. It’s a promising free game with enjoyable combat and customization aspects.
