"3.24 League Starter Testing: RF Bodyswap Chieftain for Path of Exile 3.24 looks promising. The combo of Righteous Fire and Body Swap with Chieftain has potential for a strong League start. The scaling based on maximum life adds a unique twist, making it a smooth ride through the campaign with insane damage. The explosions from Hur on mapping are just too juicy to pass up. Can't wait to see how this character progresses on the Atlas. Stay tuned for more updates!" 🎮🔥

The Upcoming 3.24 Expansion in Path of Exile

Hello everyone! As we approach the end of the Affliction League, it's time to shift our focus towards the next League 3.24. Though the official release date is not confirmed, we can expect a late March launch. The expansion timeline from gdg mentions the reveal live stream happening around the middle of March, indicating a March 29 launch for 3.24 with the reveal live stream on March 21st. However, with the possibility of a March 22nd launch and a reveal live stream on March 14th, we'll soon have concrete details. Regardless of the exact launch date, I've already started testing for the release. 📅

Changes and Testing 🕹️

At the launch of the Affliction League, I wanted to go with a righteous Fire body swap Chieftain build due to significant changes in both abilities. Righteous Fire had its flat base damage removed in favor of increased scaling based purely on maximum life and energy Shield. Meanwhile, body swap had a change where the quality stat now provides more damage from the Maximum life stat on the gem. This is an interesting synergy as it allows for damage scaling entirely from maximum life, a departure from traditional gem level scaling.

On to the Chieftain Ascendancy

I chose the Chieftain ascendancy primarily for the 'ramama coat' notable, which helps to ignite while blinking around with body swap. The character being considered stationary when blinking contributes to a fixed minus 20% fire resistance on nearby enemies, providing good uptime. Additionally, taking Tario and Vaco makes resistance gearing very easy, and the explosions from Hora 2 add a significant edge to the setup. In retrospect, I should have gone with the RF body swap for Affliction, as the current setup performed exceptionally well during my limited testing for the League. 🔥

The Experience of Testing

The character seamlessly progressed through the campaign and reached the map phase effortlessly. The new scaling made righteous Fire significantly more potent, and even in the early campaign and act runs, it proved to be a breeze. Leveraging the build's strength, along with smart gem and curse choices, makes the leveling process a smooth experience. I made some alterations to the gem setup which further optimized the performance of the character. The ease of leveling leads me to recommend the PoE guide, featuring a wealth of essential information. 📘

Tips from the Testing Phase

In this avatar, I reached for body swap as soon as it became available and started leveling the gem right away. By Act five and six, body swap with RF felt exceptionally potent. As for the ascendency choices, each step was carefully considered, and the decisions significantly affected the character's performance throughout the progression. All in all, the experience was very rewarding. 💡

Looking Ahead

I will continue to play and engage with this character to understand its performance on the atlas and gather more insights. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of this build. Also, for those who wish to support my content, I've shifted my primary support platform to Patreon. I want to thank my first patron, Acid Bath 101, for their generous support. That's all for now - stay tuned and stay safe. 🔍
